Active Citizenship Week Presents Clean Up Day

Looking for a “hands on” opportunity to help create a city we can all be proud of? In a partnership with Thomas Street Association, we’ll clean up the Dublin’s historic Liberties area, stimulating everyone around to keep it tidy. Come and join us, the more the merrier!


Drama: Improvisation Course feat. Padraig O’Rua

For all you actors at heart, this is your chance! (Or if you simply have always been curious about improvisation) Please join Theatre Director and JCI Member Padraig O’Rua as he leads us through this session on Improvisation. Join NO DRAMA THEATRE which is a 5 year theatre group with a unique improv-orientated emphasis that strives to avoid the ordinary and nurture the extraordinary.

Our guest speaker for September is Alan Moyne, Editor of Disability.ie; which is a website providing easily accessible information for people with disabilities on huge range of areas such as employment, entitlements, sport and health to name a few. Alan will be sharing his views on the challenges faced by those living with disabilities in our community.

Kayak Excursion

14 September, Jeannie Johston Tall Ship (near Customer House Quay)

Come and join us for a fun weekend of Water Sports and see Dublin’s landmarks from a different perspective! (Literally) Come join our JCI Dublin team for a really great price. 25 euro per person for 2 hrs of kayaking on the Liffey!
Here is a look at the program:
We meet @1pm at the Jeannie Johnston Tall Ship (Near Custom House Quay, Dublin 1)
– Start with some relay races and games across the river and then make our way up river on a trip through town and back. This takes approx. 2 hrs.
– Bring something you don’t mind getting a little wet and a change of clothes. We provide all the necessary safety gear along with waterproofs to keep you that bit dryer.

The ultimate chance to dance and do something great for World Peace. With the help of our member Heloiza Fitzsimmons, we would like to setup a flash-mob and dazzle everyone as a JCI team. Come and join us for some major fun in the center of Dublin.

No experience needed, this is a free JCI Training and we hope you can join us for an afternoon with many interesting topics of discussion, prizes and lots, lots of fun.

Active Citizenship Week Presents Experts Presentation on Best Practices in Waste Management

3 September, 7pm Eden College, Burgh Quay, Dublin 2

Find out what the civil society is doing to minimize the solid waste problem in Dublin. Join us on Wednesday 3rd September when we will be joined by Dr. Tara Singleton, Marketing, Communications & Education Manager at The Rediscovery Centre. The Rediscovery Centre brings together the skills and expertise of scientists, designers, business managers and craftsmen united in a common purpose of sustainability through resource efficiency and life cycle design. Their mission is to divert waste from landfill, provide community employment and training and inspire sustainable living.  


JCI Dublin Fashion Show and Dinner

5 September, 7pm Ely Bar and Brassiere

This is a fashion show with a twist, all of the clothes featured in the fashion show will be “pre-loved” clothing donated by the NCBI Charity Shop in Maynooth, Co. Kildare. The aim of this event is to demonstrate that recycling is fashionable by encouraging people to reuse clothing whenever possible and to donate their unwanted clothes and accessories instead of binning them.

Our guest speaker for August is Kevin Rowe, founder of Kevin Rowe Events.  Kevin has been involved in the events sector for the last number of years. His passion and drive to succeed in this industry is evident, in any event his name or company is associated with. Kevin will be sharing his experiences of starting up his own business in what can only described as challenging economic conditions.
